Society Challenge Cup
Rule & Regulations
|
All societies must adopt the same handicap system. | |
|
The maximum handicap allowed on the day is 18. | |
|
Shots will be allocated according to the standard match play, ¾ difference calculation. | |
|
Committee will comprise of 9 people - 2 representatives from each Society and a Chairman. The Chairman will vote only on those issues where a deciding vote is required. The Chairman must be elected by a majority from 9 votes. | |
|
The chair will pass down as follows:2005 Phoenix/2006- Montesol /2007-Millenium/2008-EliKent/2009-Pharmaplus/2010-Porchester/2011-Vaprose/2012-Care. | |
|
Strict rules of golf to be applied at ALL times. | |
|
Winners of 1st division to organize following years competition. | |
|
Players must use their lowest handicap of any club or society they belong to. | |
|
Breach of the lowest handicap rule will incur a £100 fine from the offending society and a one year ban from the competition to the offending player. The fine will be paid into the Society Challenge pot. | |
|
Participating societies must have a minimum of 5 qualifying events which count towards their Order Of Merit. | |
|
Players must have attended at least 3 qualifying events during the year. This does not include disqualified or “no return” cards. | |
|
Caddies may be allowed only if buggies are not allowed on the course. Caddies must not assist with play in any way except to carry the bags. | |
|
The format of play will be match play, sharing 16 points per hole and finally 16 points for the match. | |
|
A player who does not show for the day will be awarded zero points. A player must complete 18 holes to gain any points. | |
|
The Chairman must be informed of the competition date by end of May. | |
|
Society representatives must ensure during their own competitions that “no return” cards do not influence players handicaps. | |
|
Multiple society members must declare their allegiance to a single society and cannot change except when joining a society for the first time or resigning from another. | |
|
The committee may ultimately decide on any matter regarding the competition and it’s decision will be final. | |
|
Promotion and relegation will be applied on 2 up and 2 down basis. | |
|
Each group must agree on scores after every hole and finalise the cards immediately after completing their final hole of the competition. |
Scoring System
Shots are allocated to each player in the group by calculating ¾ of the difference in handicap from the lowest handicap in the group i.e. standard matchplay format.

After each hole has been played the net score determines the player’s position for that hole. The tables below show how the points are allocated according to the position.

Once the round has been completed, add the points for each player. This determines the players position within the group for the round. Use the tables above to determine the points awarded to each player for the round.

Please observe the following :
|
· Maximum handicap is 18. | |
|
· Golf should be played according to strict R&A rules. | |
|
· All players should keep scores for the whole group. These should be reconciled at the end. | |
|
· One card signed by all players should be returned. | |
|
· Disputes should be highlighted and settled before proceeding to the next hole. | |
|
· The golf is played as a competition but the emphasis of the day the social gathering of societies. |

The bar will be kept open in the evening and 3 vouchers will be issued to each player to exchange for non premium drinks. | |

The bill for the meeting will be settled equally by each society |
